Lil Durk has won the biggest legal victory of his career — but he isn’t walking out of federal custody just yet.

The Grammy-winning Chicago rapper, whose legal name is Durk Banks, was acquitted Friday of all charges in the federal murder-for-hire case accusing him of orchestrating a revenge plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo.

After three days of deliberations, a Los Angeles federal jury rejected prosecutors’ case against the 33-year-old artist. The prosecution alleged that Durk used his money and influence to finance an August 2022 attack on Quando Rondo following the 2020 killing of Durk’s close friend King Von. Rondo survived the shooting, while his cousin Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson was killed.

The verdict represents a significant defeat for federal prosecutors. But Durk’s legal problems are not finished. He remains in custody and is scheduled to face a separate trial on October 5 involving racketeering and weapons charges.

That makes the next chapter of the Lil Durk case almost as consequential as the verdict just delivered.
