House Republicans took a significant step forward Sunday in their effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas by formalizing their allegations ahead of a committee vote. Republicans allege in the first impeachment article that Mayorkas displayed a “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law,” while the second article argues that he breached public trust by having “knowingly made false statements, and knowingly obstructed lawful oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.” “These articles lay out a clear, compelling, and irrefutable case for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment,” said House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., in a statement.
Former President Donald Trump easily won New Hampshire’s primary on Tuesday, seizing command of the race for the Republican nomination and making a November rematch against President Joe Biden feel all the more inevitable.
The result was a setback for former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who finished second despite investing significant time and financial resources in a state famous for its independent streak. She’s the last major challenger after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ended his presidential bid over the weekend, allowing her to campaign as the sole alternative to Trump.
Trump’s allies ramped up pressure on Haley to leave the race before the polls had closed, but Haley vowed after the results were announced to continue her campaign. Speaking to supporters, she intensified her criticism of the former president, questioning his mental acuity and pitching herself as a unifying candidate who would usher in generational change.
“This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go,” Haley said, while some in the crowd cried, “It’s not over!”
Trump, meanwhile, can now boast of being the first Republican presidential candidate to win open races in Iowa and New Hampshire since both states began leading the election calendar in 1976, a striking sign of how rapidly Republicans have rallied around him to make him their nominee for the third consecutive time.
At his victory party Tuesday night, Trump repeatedly insulted Haley and gave a far angrier speech than after his Iowa victory, when his message was one of Republican unity.
“Let’s not have someone take a victory when she had a very bad night,” Trump said. He added, “Just a little note to Nikki: She’s not going to win.”
The outlook for accumulation is 1 to 4 inches for most of Central Maryland, which is, of course, subject to change based on refined storm track. Areas of higher elevation, particularly in northern Carroll County, for example, could see even more snow.
Tuesday’s snow totals were mostly around 4 to 5 inches on the higher end, with an average of about 2 to 3 inches elsewhere.
THEN, on Saturday afternoon for the Ravens playoffs game, it’s another Impact Weather Day for temperatures in the 20s coupled with winds 15-20 mph, gusting higher. Wind chill temperatures (what it will feel like) will be around 10 degrees.

Potential power outages:
Baltimore Gas and Electric has scheduled 100 additional contractor crews to ensure resources are available for the duration of the predicted weather. Customers are encouraged to prepare ahead of time, and to report outages if they occur.
Storm conditions could cause outages by knocking down tree limbs onto power lines and other electric delivery equipment. BGE asks all customers to report their outage in any of the following ways:
- Online, at BGE.com
- BGE’s free mobile app, available at the Apple Store or Google Play
- Text message, to 69243
- Phone, by calling 877-778-2222
The latest outage information, including total number and general locations, is available on the BGE.com outage map.
As a reminder, fallen overhead power lines should never be approached or touched even if the lines do not appear to be live or sparking. Call BGE at 877-778-2222 to report fallen electrical lines, power outages and gas odors.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has prostate cancer and his recent secretive hospitalization was for surgery and later to treat an urinary tract infection related to that operation, doctors said Tuesday.
The 70-year-old Austin was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Dec. 22 and underwent surgery to treat the cancer. Austin developed the infection a week later. Senior administration and defense officials were not told for days about his hospitalization or his cancer.
The White House chief of staff on Tuesday ordered Cabinet members or secretaries to notify his office if they ever can’t perform their duties, as the Biden administration, reeling from learning of Austin’s illness last week, mounts a policy review.
Jeff Zients, in a memo to Cabinet secretaries, directed that they send the White House any existing procedures for delegating authority in the event of incapacitation or loss of communication by Friday. While the review is ongoing, he is requiring agencies to notify his office and the office of Cabinet affairs at the White House if an agency experiences or plans to experience a circumstance in which a Cabinet head can’t perform their duties.
The memo comes after President Joe Biden and other top officials weren’t informed for days that Austin had been hospitalized and had turned over power to his deputy. A Pentagon spokesman blamed the lapse on a key staffer being out sick with the flu.
“Agencies should ensure that delegations are issued when a Cabinet Member is traveling to areas with limited or no access to communication, undergoing hospitalization or a medical procedure requiring general anesthesia, or otherwise in a circumstance when he or she may be unreachable,” Zients’ memo states. It also requires that agencies document when any such transfer of authorities occurs and that the person serving in the acting role promptly establish contact with relevant White House staff.
Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance Wednesday on Capitol Hill, defiantly walking into a House committee hearing centered on whether to hold him in contempt.
The move sparked outrage from Republicans, who’ve issued a congressional subpoena for him to sit for a closed-door deposition in their ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. The president’s son has said he would testify only in a public forum, and previously castigated the probe as “illegitimate.”
His arrival plunged the proceeding into chaos.
“You’re the epitome of white privilege, coming into the Oversight Committee, spitting in our face, ignoring a congressional subpoena to be deposed. What are you afraid of?” Republican Rep. Nancy Mace said just after he entered the room. She went on to say the younger Biden should be arrested and go “straight to jail.”
Torrei Hart, Kevin Hart’s ex-wife, announced that she will be joining Katt Williams on the road during his “Dark Matter” tour.
While she initially revealed three dates, Torrei teased that “more dates” would be confirmed soon, and she included a clip from Katt’s “Club Shay Shay” interview. During the sit-down, Katt called Torrei’s former husband an industry “plant,” but she shared a clip of Katt saying that he only takes comedians on the road that he thinks are funnier than him.
TMZ recently caught up with Kevin to get his take on the news, and he responded to being asked about people questioning his success, and he stated, “My success is my success. I want everybody to win. I love everybody.”
When asked about Torrei, Kevin stated, “I want everybody to win. I hope the tour is great.”

Previously, reports noted that Duane “Keefe D” Davis and his legal team requested bail but were shut down by prosecutors who claimed he was “too dangerous” to be released.
However, Davis’ lawyers feel this shouldn’t stop him from being able to be put on house arrest. Keefe D’s team is expected to ask the judge in his case to allow him to be placed on house arrest pending his trial.
News of this comes after Davis’ lawyers said all of Keefe D’s 2Pac statements were for “entertainment.”
